Candidates for the Clinical Nurse Extern (Nursing Student) position must maintain an active CNA certification in the state of MD. Current enrollment in an accredited School of Nursing and completion or current enrollment in a Fundamentals or Introduction to Nursing course is required. Bachelor's degree students are preferred, but Associate's degree students are encouraged to apply.


The Clinical Nurse Extern is responsible for:

  • Caring for patients and families in a world renowned medical institution.
  • Performing delegated functions under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Effectively executing routine/delegated patient care activities and procedures required in daily practice as defined by each clinical department.
  • Participating and promoting Johns Hopkins Hospital departmental and hospital safety standards.   
  • Established working relationships within a multidisciplinary health care system.
